APPLICATION AND SELECTION PROCESS
Overview: SaratogaArtsFest, now in its sixth year, is committed to strengthening cultural tourism in the Saratoga Region, and establishing Saratoga Springs, New York, as a premier arts destination through a dynamic and high quality showcase of the arts. The selection of artists for the four day festival will include local, national, and international artists representing a wide range of disciplines as well as school and community groups.
Artist Application: Performing Artists interested in participating in SaratogaArtsFest must complete this online Performing Artist Application and submit it electronically. Visual Artists interested in participating must complete the online Visual Artist Application and submit it electronically.
Selection Process: Artists will be selected through an application review process and decisions will be made by Program Coordinators, each one specializing in a particular genre or type of participation: Dance, Film & Literary Arts, Music, Theatre and Visual Arts. Consideration will be given to balancing the demands and availability of venues, audience appeal, budget, performance quality, and scheduling requirements. The Artist Relations Coordinator will serve as the primary contact with artists on behalf of SaratogaArtsFest throughout the selection process.
ARTIST PROMOTION AND COMPENSATION
All artists, organizations, and groups participating in SaratogaArtsFest will be featured in the Festival Book and Event Guide and promoted through ArtsFest publicity efforts wherever feasible. Monetary compensation for selected artists will vary and be negotiated on an individual basis. Although SaratogaArtsFest has limited funds, the intent is to move steadily toward higher levels of compensation each year.
PRODUCT SALES
Performers and artists interested in selling products during SaratogaArtsFest must indicate this on their application. Not all venues are able to support product sales. Artists and performers who wish to sell their own products must also provide staff to sell the items, supplies required to make the sale (a cashbox, change, etc.), and any licenses required by the specific venue. Notification of approval to sell products will be included in the artist selection letter sent in January.
PROJECT YES!
Project YES! - Youth Experiencing SaratogaArtsFest - is a collaboration of SaratogaArtsFest, local school districts, and a number of other schools in the area. This program is designed to make the arts more accessible to young people and to encourage families to attend the festival together.
As part of Project YES!, SaratogaArtsFest will give away Admission Packages to local students in elementary, middle and high school. Students who wear their Project YES! admission passes will be admitted “backstage” at select events.
