SaratogaArtsFest “Paint Out” invites visual artists
New this year: special exhibition for selected artists

Saratoga Springs is known for its scenic downtown, and once again SaratogaArtsFest will present an opportunity for visual artists to capture and display that beauty in a "plein air" Paint Out from the vantage point of the city’s sidewalks and parks. SaratogaArtsFest 2010, scheduled for June 10-13, will be a citywide celebration of music, dance, visual art, film, theatre, and literary art.

"En plein air" is a French expression meaning "in the open air" and is specifically used to describe the act of painting outdoors.

The Paint Out has proven to be popular component of the annual ArtsFest, now marking its fourth year. The painters, who are stationed throughout downtown Saratoga Springs and in Congress Park, attract many fans and passersby as they paint streetscapes and local scenes. Even painters who have never experienced a Paint Out can enjoy the unique experience of creating a work of art "on location."

Artists interested in participating in the Paint Out should fill out the online application form for visual arts, available at www.SaratogaArtsFest.org. The deadline for registration is May 1.
