Duncan Sheik

On June 13, 2014, Grammy and Tony award winner Duncan Sheik will perform as SAF's Friday night Signature Event at the Arthur Zankel Music Center.

Duncan Sheik is a singer-songwriter and composer who broke through in the late ‘90s with his Top 20 Single "Barely Breathing," which spent 55 weeks on the Billboard's Hot 100 Chart and propelled sales to 750,000 copies.

Sheik later expanded to compositions for motion pictures and the Broadway stage. Sheik composed musical Spring Awakening which earned 8 Tony Awards, including "Best Musical." "Spring Awakening" proved influential on Broadway and the New York Times predicted, "Broadway, with its often puerile sophistication and its sterile romanticism, may never be the same."

Sheik has recently debuted his latest work, the stage production of Bret Easton Ellis' "American Psycho" at the Almeida Theatre in London. His other works in development include stage adaptations of "The Nightingale" and "Because of Winn Dixie".

In 2012 Sheik released a remix of his 2011 covers album, "Covers Eighties Remixed" with contributions from Samantha Ronson, El-P, Gabriel & Dresden, Chico Mann and more. Sheik is currently spending time in his recording studio in Garrison, NY working on his latest album of original material due out in 2014.

Tickets for this Signature Event are on sale now! Tickets are regularly priced at $50 per person, but are available at $25 per person for ARTSPASS holders.
